Spiritual Insights With Andrea
Spiritual Insights with Andrea is here to help you use spiritual practices in your daily life so you can align to your true self and purpose. By living a spiritually connected life you reclaim who you are, learn love yourself and let go of that which does not serve you.
What exactly is spiritually connected living? It includes the following:
- Developing your relationship with your source. No matter what you call it - Universe, God, Higher Power or anything else.
- Developing your relationship to your spirit guides and other helpful beings from the spirit realm.
- Having daily practices to maintain your energy and connection to spirit.
- Integrating your spiritual connections into decision making.
- Healing blocks to connection, growth and yourself. These can be emotional, physical, mental or spiritual.
What You Will Find on the Podcast
Each week I share spiritual insights, tools and lessons. These come from both me and my experience and from my spirit team.
This gives you guidance from a spirit perspective and a human perspective. These are different because from non-ordinary reality, they can see more than we do.
But they don't fully understand what it is like to be human. So, taking what they say and pairing with it the human experience gives you better guidance.
I make sure these are action oriented so you don't just get a message with no clue what to do with it - you get guidance on what you can do in your own life to manage it.
You will also find guided meditations to help you with living spiritually connected.

How to Release Resistance to Intuitive Guidance

Following your intuition isn't always easy. Sometimes your brain goes into overdrive and wants answers. It wants logic. This is the three step process I take to get more comfortable in trusting my intuition while calming my mind.

Welcome to this Spiritual Insight. This week we're going to talk about trusting our intuition without needing a reason. One of the hardest things that you can do when learning to use your intuition is to actually trust it without needing a full understanding or a perfect reason to ask. A lot of times we end up believing we don't have enough data, so we take no action. Our society has convinced us that we must have a reason for everything, that it must be logical and it must be explainable. But our intuition isn't always logical. It's that quiet voice that guides us in the right direction, even when it does not make sense. And so the first thing that you must begin to master as you learn to use your intuition is to trust you don't need a reason or explanation to act on it. I know this can be very difficult. Even after years of using my intuition, I still have moments where I feel like I must have a full story to go with it. So what do we do to allow ourselves to develop our intuition without needing that reason to be there? I'm going to give you right now the process that I use to move forward with intuition when my brain is trying to take over the entire situation. So the very first thing that I do is I take time to sit with that intuitive feeling. Now, when I'm sitting with this feeling, I'm not trying to analyze it, I'm not judging it, I'm not trying to break it down, but instead, I focus on sitting with the piece of information that I am receiving. I'm trying to become comfortable with the idea. Now, this can be very difficult because your mind is going to want to dive into all of the logic behind it. So, for example, I one time had an intuitive hit to cancel a massage I had scheduled. In my mind, there was zero reason. There was nothing on my schedule. There's no pending plans I was waiting on. There was nothing I could find. I didn't want to dive in and cancel because my brain was taking over. It was in rationalization mode that I had to have a reason for doing this. So I sat with it for a few days. I had the time before I needed to cancel it. So I just sat and let myself be with the sensations that sometimes come with those intuitive hits, especially when they're confusing. And every time I sat with it, I found that experience difficult. This is not necessarily an easy step, especially at the beginning of learning to follow your intuition, because you're going to continually search for some sort of explanation. So what I do during those sessions is I turn my focus to my body in order to keep my mind calm. I pay attention to feelings, sensations, with the goal to be comfortable with the idea. Eventually, it will get to the point where you're more able to simply be with it. And at that point, you can go to the next step. Step two is to check in with your spirit guides. So you've become comfortable with that intuitive hit that you got. And now you ask your guides questions to help you become even more comfortable with it. So things like, is this accurate? Is this actually human panic about something completely different? Is it critical to take action? What you're trying to do is ensure that it was an intuitive information, that it is accurate, rather than letting your human mind take over. This is why we want to ask our guides. It's really helping us fine-tune what we're hearing, but get confidence in it also. And if you're still learning how to communicate with your guides, I know this can feel even more overwhelming. What I recommend you do in this scenario is to use something like a guided meditation where you're connecting with your guides and have this be the thing that you want more information on. So then the next step, step three, after you've gotten information from your guides, is to take action on your intuitive guidance. So you gather all the information, you get comfortable with it, and then you take action. So in my example, I did end up canceling my appointment, even though I never found a reason or logic. I just became comfortable with it enough to do it. And it did turn out there was an unexpected snowstorm that day that would have made it close to impossible for me to actually get there. And knowing myself, I would have been stressed out and panicked. So it was a really good thing that I took that intuitive hit and canceled it. Now, you don't always have to take action. You might get to this point and decide, I'm not going to take action right now. And that is okay. You have to do what feels right for you. Just because you have an intuitive hit does not mean that you need to follow through, which actually leads into our next step. So once you've taken action, the next step is to assess the accuracy of your intuitive information. So part of the reason we want to do the have a reason and have full details is that we're getting used to trusting our intuition. So in the beginning, this sensation of needing a reason constantly is a lot stronger. We're not used to using it. So by taking the time to review the accuracy of your intuitive hits, we'll help you release the need for logical answers. So for this one, my intuition was spot on. But that has not always been the case. When I was learning at the very start, there were many, many, many times my brain took over. But here's the thing: with my brain taking over and the intuition not being accurate, or me seeing that it was accurate and I didn't take action on it. By tracking it, I knew that information. Without this tracking step, you don't get comfortable with your intuition. You don't begin to trust it and don't learn the nuances. Intuition is actually truly very nuanced. And so this analysis stage is where you begin to better understand it and really have few of the fewer of those logical brain takeovers. So now the best way to do this assessment is one that works for you. You can use journaling, you can journal through it after it has completely happened. You could use an intuition log. You can even do like a quick night nightly check-in to see if you've tapped into your intuition, used it, trusted it. How you do it is less important than actually doing it. So I do have an intuition log that you can download for free. I'll put the link in the show notes if you just want an easy way to track it. And I just want to end with saying building a relationship with your intuition is exactly that. It is a relationship. It requires patience, it requires active listening, and most importantly, the grace to be wrong sometimes. As you stop demanding a why from your inner voice, from your intuition, you'll find that it speaks more clearly, more often, there's less resistance. But this does take time. So go ahead and start small, start tracking your intuitive hits so you can get more comfortable with them, so that your brain will calm down and you can begin to move forward with your intuition. So thank you for joining me on this episode of Spiritual Insights with Andrea. I do want to recommend episode 52 as a meditation to release resistance to intuitive guidance that will help you even more with this topic. I hope you have a fantastic week and we'll chat next time.
